Introduction
This is the heart of Management of the Metal Removal Fluid Environment. This is what it's all about: how to manage your metal removal fluid system
Why "manage" your system?
A well managed system means fewer worker complaints of odors or irritation and fewer negative health effects. But let's look at it more carefully.

What are the benefits of good MRF management?
lower potential for adverse health effects in exposed employees
reduced fluid use, which means lower cost and less waste to dispose of
reduced cost of manufacturing
cleaner fluid
higher productivity
better fluid performance

What is involved in "managing" metal removal fluids?

Managing the metal removal fluid involves

  1. keeping the fluid in the best possible working condition
  2. making sure the entire system functions as it is supposed to
  3. recovering or recycling the metal removal fluid
A good fluid maintenance program will significantly prolong the life of a metal removal fluid and minimize problems associated with its use.
Keeping the fluid in the best possible working condition requires
testing the fluid for concentration, for specific ingredients, and for contamination
using additives as needed to keep the fluid in balance, control microbial growth, or correct specific performance problems
replacing fluid lost from carry-off, splashing, or evaporation

Ensuring that the system performs as expected requires

monitoring the performance of the MRF system
properly maintaining the filtration and fluid delivery systems and/or oil skimmer

Good management will ensure that the fluid maintains those characteristics that enable it to perform as it should.
