What preventive maintenance is needed in areas where MRF processes are used?
For areas of the workplace where metal removal fluid processes are used, the employer should include a process to detect leaks and spills, including regular visual inspections. Preventive maintenance of equipment, including looking for and repairing leaks, should be regularly scheduled.
What if metal removal fluids and other materials are spilled?
If spills of in-use metal removal fluids or as-received metal removal fluids and associated materials occur, the employer should make provisions to contain and promptly clean the spill, and dispose of the waste and debris in accordance with local, state, and federal disposal regulations. Returning spilled material to the machine tool may result in microbial contamination of the MRF.
