Certain characteristics of the metal removal fluid must be maintained if the fluid is to do what it's meant to.

What characteristics of the fluid are important to its performance?

concentration checks

testing for amount of oil

testing for microbes

disposal of MRF

maintenance

process performance

acceptability of MRF to the machine operator

stability of the fluid
lubricating ability of the fluid
ability to prevent corrosion
resistance to foaming
proper concentration (in the case of water-dilutable MRFs)
ability to reject contaminating oils
ability to control the growth of microbes
ability to be disposed of in an environmentally responsible way
How can these characteristics of MRF be ensured?
There are four elements in making sure that a metal removal fluid performs efficiently:
monitoring fluid condition
regular maintenance
monitoring of the metal removal process performance
acceptability of the fluid to the machine operator
In order to determine the condition of the MRF, it is necessary to test various aspects of the fluid. Go to Testing to find out what these tests are and how they're performed. To keep the fluid in good condition, a regular program of maintenance is needed. In addition, the metal removal process performance itself must be monitored to make sure the fluid is doing what it's meant to do.
